    Description

This is a gem! It's a gorgeous vintage safety razor head with lots of elaborate engraving. It comes with 2 blades and in the original Jewel presentation case.
This is a Star Safety Razor manufactured by Kampfe Bros., New York. It has a closed head, with top screw adjustment and 11 teeth. The engraving is beautiful and includes a list of patents, the manufacturer, and some decorative elements (including 2 punched stars). According to the engraving this razor has won "numerous awards, premiums, and medals." We estimate that it dates to the 1890s.
The razor head is in excellent condition, while the blades have some corrosion/staining.
The box is in good condition, with some wear to the outside and some wear to the satin lining inside. The clasp and hinge both still work perfectly.
The original item did not include a handle. No handle is included as part of this sale.
The original owner's name is printed in the bottom of the case. Mr. John E. Thayer of Lockport, NY (1847-1924) was a sewing machine agent. He is also the great grandfather of a friend that I am selling this for. Mr. Thayer's shaving kit has been passed down through the generations, and it is now time to find a new owner who will appreciate the quality and craftsmanship of this item.
