    Description
    This is a very pleasant, quite rare, old
    "Good For One 12½¢ Cigar"
    token from the
    "Sam N. Seip"
    Cigar Store located at 14 East Washington Street in what was then Phoenix, Arizona Territory. He operated from as early as 1892 until at least 1916.
    Arizona became a State on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1912.
    During this era, over a century ago, people were much more familiar with splitting a quarter in half. The old use of
    "Two Bits, Four Bits, Six Bits a Dollar"
    stemming from the
    "Pieces of Eight"
    of early Spanish America was within living memory of some. Also, many saloons offered a drink and a cigar for a quarter and tokens were sometimes used as change.
