    Description

    This is a very heavy solid brass lock with a brass key and tag marked Hotel Sterling, Cincinnati.
    The lock is in good working order although we don’t think the key is original lock key. The lock is marked, “Richie & Co, Newark, NJ, Pat. Aug. 22, 1867” or it could be ‘87. It’s hard to read that number. The back is stamped with a MCRR and a C under that. This could be a railroad lock of some sort therefore the key would not be the original but it works. It measures 4 1/2” tall and 2 3/4” across and is 3/4” thick It has a 10” chain. It weighs about 1.5 lbs.
