    NORFOLK PINE BOWL MADE AND SIGNED By JOHN R. CRITCHFIELD . John Joined The Navy in 1947 After 20 Years In Electronics and Nuclear Power . He retired and start Doing What He Loves to Do Wood Work.( Being able to Turn Bowls Was a process that was Long in Coming )you can see his work in( Sunshine Arts Gallery ) in the Island of Oahu. This Amazing piece of wood displays beautiful spalting figure and trademark Norfolk Pine that are very desirable to turners. Each turning is one of a kind and done completely by hand. Each shape is designed  to bring out the individual characteristics of that piece of wood. This Bowl has BOW TIE Inserts (PEWAS) spectakulare that adds character to the piece.

    and has been hand turned to a very delicate thickness. It has been extensively sanded, hand-rubbed with a penetrating oil finish that takes at least 45 days. This slow tedious process in conjuction with the pieces thickness, allows the finish to fully fill up the cells in the wood and create stunning depth that only this type of wood is capable bring out.  The natural fungus or "spalting" adds beautiful visual contrast with the creamy wood and no two are alike . This is truly one of a kind. Will make a  great keepsake or gift
