    Description

    Makiwara Pad (Extra Long)
The makiwara is a wooden striking-post used in Okinawan and Japanese martial arts to train striking techniques.
The makiwara is not a wooden heavy bag.
I cannot emphasize that enough. The makiwara is like a good honing stone. It requires time and repetition. And most importantly it requires skill in operating it. But if you take the time to develop that skill then the results you can achieve are nothing short of astounding.
I have very strong feelings about what makes a good makiwara pad. I believe that a good makiwara pad should be as stiff as possible while still protecting your skin from the bare wood. A huge part of makiwara training is training you to hit perfectly with the first two knuckles. This means that you must be able to feel exactly how you're impacting. In short, this is not a pillow for your makiwara.
This extra long pad is designed to lengthen the usable surface of your makiwara. This can allow for a greater range of strikes, and can let people of different heights use the same makiwara.
Please note, leather is a natural material and it is therefore impossible to guarantee the color. I pick my leather based on the strength and feel not the color. I try to keep my pictures up-to-date, but if the color matters to you please ask and I can send you a pictures of exactly what to expect.
    This listing is for the
    extra long pad only

The pad is made of leather with a rubber insert. It fits over 3.5" to 4" wide posts and is 11" long.
