What we have here is a really nice vintage example of an early spinning reel. It’s
RU
SPORT No. 49
,
made by RU Marque Deposee Brevete S.G.D.C., France, circa 1950’s.
Unlike some of the ads for this model reel I’ve seen advertised, you can certainly fish with this reel despite its age being close to 70 years old! This all-metal reel features an anodized aluminum spool, black enameled frame and rotor, polished aluminum half bail, front reel disk drag, on/off adjustable free spool/anti-reverse button, and an aluminum handle with a paddle knob, which turns freely.
The gear ratio is 3:1, has a rated line capacity of 200 yds. 20 lb. test monofilament, and weighs 10.0 oz.
This neat reel is in Very Good condition, very clean (has been washed and touched up), lightly lubricated, and operates smoothly.
The "RU SPORT" label has been added but is easily removeable
. It is spooled with premium 20 lb. test braided nylon line. It’s ready to be fished with. However, the reel is a great collectible.
A good looking cardboard reel storage box is provided.
